hey its not really a question, but I am almost at the end of my high school life and am planning on university but I am somewhat concerned about my mental health in a way.
I have been diagnosed with ADHD and PDD-NOS( not quite aspergers), currently on Vyvance which is working pretty well... I suppose what i'm really trying to get at is that even over all the years I still have huge difficulty making sure to get things done on time, such as now I should be doing a project for tomorrow but i'm on here. I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to help me because I get completely distracted form my work even on my pills and i feels like a fall into a trap within my own procrastination that I can't get out of and then before i know it I get into deep water with overdue assignments, and i really can't afford for this to happen anymore.... especially in university of even college. I find there is just absolutely no willpower to get stuff done and it has been making me worry a little bit lately.
Please keep in mind that I don't have just any regular ADD, mine is somewhat more demanding and takes a lot more effort in order to pay attention not try and get attention from other people and especially listing to things and understand them in the correct order. I would just really appreciate any feed back from people who might have a similar diagnosis as me or know of people similar. Thanks.ADHD plus PDD-NOS, Looking for some helpful feedback!?
my son has these very diagnosis and what he does is he keeps a pad of paper with him at all times and he makes a list of things that need to be done and by when. then every hour that he is awake he checks his list to see what he should be doing. if he cant accomplish all of it in one day when he makes his list for the next day it goes at the top of the list. we go through a lot of pads and pens but it keeps him on track. good luck i hope something like this might work for you. i know it is frustrating. hang in there.ADHD plus PDD-NOS, Looking for some helpful feedback!?
ask the disability staff at school about getting assessment for an IEP or if they dont want to make it offically, accomodations of some sort now have been diagnosed-as home work shoud have some accomodations around it-it isnt right are expected to struggle alone with home work,as will obviously have difficulties with it.
did the specialist say exactly what level were at in terms of autism [not functioning]? as PDDNOS doesnt automatically mean milder/less symptoms than aspergers,it can also be as severe as classic autism but just an atypical or mixed aspie/autie case.
am not very familiar with ADHD meds, are there any that really work on procrastination?
woud school allow as accomodation- something like a PDA/handheld computer to have dates written in for when things due and alarm set for them?
woud a laptop help to concentrate better/have less difficulties?
even though are near the end of school,do try to see what help can get in school-as it coud make all the difference.
as a adult user from the UK [with severe classic autism amongst other disabilities] wish america coud be more like over here in terms of support for disabled/impaired/additional needs children and adults to give everyone an equal footing,as america seems very light on support [highly unfair].
