Can PDD NOS diagnosed in an adult aged 37 likely caused by social neglect rather than a genetic abnormality?

Can PDD NOS in an adult be caused by social deprivation rather than an autistic disorder someone was born with and carries the genes for?

Imagine a person living a life where they didn't have much opportunity to perfect social skills, spending much of their childhood alone in the house because the parents and family were always at work and thus developing repetitive habits (much as an animal in a zoo does) and because of a this habit and continuing lack of mentoring the person has continued this habit into their adult years.

Is this really PDD NOS (and autistic spectrum disorder) or simply someone displying similar symptoms as a consequence of social deprivation and lack of social development through years of unemployment and not learning the life skills most people learn while living and working normal lives?

Now severe low self esteem due to having been so far left behind and not having the same skills as the adults around him seems to have made matters worse.

This person wasn't diagnosed with anything as a child. But then this person was neglected as a child emotionally and mentally (although physically and medicaly the child was very well looked after and is physically very healthy and able).

This person's family is completely different to him. They are all socially successful and with families and are earning good money. They all have adult conversations with one another, but the person dx with PDD NOS can't follow these conversations.

There is definately no autism, adhd, dyslexia or any mental or physcial disability in the family or extended family. It is unheard of. This person is the only one who was socially neglected as a child and the only one diagnosed with PDD NOS.

It seems therefore that certain lifestyles and environments can cause autistic behaviour. I wonder whether this autisitc behaviour can be called autism. If so, then it seems clear that autism is not always genetic, but can be caused by the environment.

If autism really is genetic and something a person is born with, then this person was wrongly diagnosed.

In this case the person should perhaps be diagnosed with socially caused autistic behaviour.

Otherwsie they should broaden the cause of autism behvaiour to that caused by the social environment. Can PDD NOS diagnosed in an adult aged 37 likely caused by social neglect rather than a genetic abnormality?
As much as anything is possible, I have seen a lot of stuff in my day, and had thousands of patients with mental and developmental diagnoses, yet I have not seen what you are describing. People who are physically well usually change when their environment changes; thus, if he did have problems due to neglect, they should have mostly disappeared once he was able to choose to be around people. We all have remnant effects of our lives, but to be disabled due to having busy parents is not normal. Once in school, neglected children can socialize. You may feel emotionally hurt, anger, etc., but not be developmentally disabled. Even children with severe isolation in their younger years were able to develop as others if they were around human language. Usually kids who are left alone, wander out of their house or become out of control, not develop repetitive tasks.

The PDD epidemic going on has not been shown to be genetic as of yet. Most new cases say no family members have it. People with the problem of feeling the need to do repetitive tasks are ridding their symptoms via antibacterials. The culprit is thought to be Strep and/or Bartonella. Google "Strep OCD" or "Bartonella OCD" to learn about it. I have seen hundreds report their children stopped performing repetitive tasks when given antibacterials like Zithromax.
