What therapies does your PDD-NOS child get?

My son gets speech therapy and (so they said) he did not qualify for OT?? He has Medicaid and Social Security Income. I eventually would like to homeschool him. The speech he gets is not a school program so Im ok there. Does he need Music therapy? he has sensory issues, loud noises (garage door, loud baby cry and unexpected noises)

Am I missing anything? Please let me know your opinions, I feel STRESSED thinking he is missing out on something he is 7 in 1st grade reads 3rd grade level and 2nd grade level MathWhat therapies does your PDD-NOS child get?
because your son has a sever disability I would strongly suggest you leave him in public school. He needs interaction with other peers to be able to live out his life to the fullest extent possible. If he sees you as his only friend, mentor teacher and support person, he will be a total nothing if anything should happen to you.

Music therapy is an excellent choice for a child with sensory issues (I assume heightened sensitivity?) as long as the "therapist" is aware of the ancillary problems. What therapies does your PDD-NOS child get?
PDD-NOS is a general term for autism- somewhere- anywhere on the spectrum..

So, you could try ABA or IBI- even if he doesn't qualify, there are private therapists. I do music therapy and I think it works really well, so you could try that. Also special-ed sports are usually really good for autistic kids because they teach so many skills and are fun.

If he is at the reading and math levels you said, then he's probably closer to the high end of the spectrum which is why he doesn't qualify for OT.

Good luck :)
