Get a respite care provider for your younger child once a month or so and do something "special" with your older child. He will feel better about all the attention his brother gets if he knows that one weekend a month will be entirely his. You can find a caregiver through your county DD services. You will probably qualify for a stipend to pay for it.How do you help a sibbling cope with his pdd-nos brother?
I have 2 PDD.NOS sons, and an additional son who is not on the spectrum but is ADHD. It would help a lot to know the ages of the boys. The oldest son give him praise, prepare him in advance, bring snacks, if possible allow for some exercise time before appts, bring something to entertain him at appts. Try to have seperate time with each of them, if possible have seperate bedrooms. We allow our oldest to lock his door with a hook and eye lock to escape from his sibs for awhile and that works wonders. How do you help a sibbling cope with his pdd-nos brother?
trust the pediatrician %26amp; your son's therapist to guide you.
