Chances of someone inheriting schizophrenia from their parents?

I already posted this in the psychology section

My mom has schizophrenia, I never saw her being paranoid but it was bad when I was young and I don't remember anything. I'm just 14, my sister is at her 20's. What are my chances of getting schizophrenia. I think I am mildly autistic (like the pdd-nos type) and I don't really trust people so I guess you can call me paranoid as well but not much. I can tell reality from imagination but last year my mom found out my dad was cheating and things got pretty bad between them, they started fighting a lot and I became depressed. And then I used to talk to some imaginary characters, it really helped because I don't really talk to REAL people about my problems. I could tell them apart from reality and I didn't even see them there I just pretended they were there but I am pretty good at "pretending" so even though I knew they weren't there I had no problem talking to them and stuff. I guess you can say that they were the anima/animus type. I didn't say anything out loud I just moved my lips (for both them and me) and changed my facial expressions. I don't see them anymore but I like to pretend stuff. I imagine different situations all the time. I also have trouble expressing my feelings and I'm not very good at talking or explaining, describing something to other people I am a bit worried and I'm really rooting for schizoid..

What are my or my sister's (22 years old) chances of inheriting schizophrenia from our mom?Chances of someone inheriting schizophrenia from their parents?
Here's a useful chart http://www.schizophrenia.com/sz.images/s鈥?/a>

Girls don't usually develop schizophrenia until after the age of 16 if ever. I had a friend with a schizophrenic mother, and she told me that if you have the gene, it could be triggered by a traumatic event, and this was also taught to us in psychology. Drugs can trigger it too, so stay away from those...for other obvious reasons too.

I think if you can tell what's real, and control these imaginary friends, it's perfectly normal.

I often talk to myself about problems that I can't tell anyone else. If you were actually *seeing* these people you were talking to...then there might be something not quite right, but from what I've read, schizophrenic experiences are often unpleasant and frightening, so I doubt that's what it is.

Good luck! :)Chances of someone inheriting schizophrenia from their parents?
Have you been diagnosed as Autistic? Autistics don't usually see pretend characters and they are not paranoid. You both have a chance getting it because it's in your genes. Usually by your late 20's it will show signs if you have it.Chances of someone inheriting schizophrenia from their parents?
Hon, that sounds more like Maladaptive Daydreaming than schizophrenia. It's a condition that causes excessive daydreaming. Since you are so young, it's quite possible that this is just a temporary phase that you are going though.

However, NO ONE can diagnosis you over the internet. My suggestion would be to talk to your parents about this and ask to be evaluated by a professional. In that way, you will know for such one way or the other.
