Teenage boy treated like baby?

i have a 15 going on 16 yr old older brother. he has pdd-nos (highest functioning form of autism), yet my mother treats him like he can't function at all. she sleeps with him in his room at night, she puts his shoes on for him, she's even gettin him an american girl doll for christmas just because "she knows how much he wants one". and because of this babying he has my mom wrapped round his finger. he has tantrums not because he's disabled, but because he knows he will get what he wants. if he was my kid i wouldn't hesitate to tell him to grow the f*ck up. and don't be like oh, well he has autism, because that doesn't even fly as an excuse. if you had a slightly mentally challenged teenage boy wouldn't you want to raise him to be as much of a normal man as he can be?Teenage boy treated like baby?
I think your mother needs to let him grow up and be his age, and not a baby. She shouldn't be sleeping in his room and putting on his shoes for him. I have Asperger syndrome and at that age did have problems with certain things such as hygiene and dressing myself properly, but was capable of learning and would have done at a much earlier age if my mother had taught me properly. Maybe your mother thinks your brother isn't capable. Maybe you could show her a book on high-functioning autism or some websites so she can see that your brother is able to do things for himself. Your mother should be doing as much as possible to help him become independent otherwise how will he ever function in society as an adult.Teenage boy treated like baby?
well look at leonardo dicaprio in gilber grape.. that's kinda how this is lol.

thats all i have to say..Teenage boy treated like baby?
Yes, I would. But your mother has obviously got into the habit of treating him this way and it might be hard to break!
