My 2 year old son has PDD-NOS autism. He was recently diagnosed with Generalized seizure disorder (epileptic). I am trying to find out if anyone has had to put their child on DEPAKOTE? He is currently on Tegretol and has been for 5 or so months...during that time he has also been on Phenobarbital, Keppra, and was prescribed Lamictial (which I refused to give him). I am really torn on giving him this new med. because of the side effect (which take 3 min. just to read!). Please, any advice would really help me. By the way, his seizures are Absence seizures (which are just staring spells and they happen 100's of times daily, and he has myclonic seizures (which are when you shake really bad (looks like he is freezing) when you wake up.) Thanks everybody. Can someone please help me?
I would try asking this question on the yahoo group meta-mito-autism. I would also consider asking my MD for a full metabolic workup. Can someone please help me?
I am not a physician nor have the expertise to answer the effects of depakote for your child. However, I have took depakote for a mood disorder and really felt no side effects. I hope this helps. I wish you the best. Can someone please help me?
i know that it is hard to think that this stuff can cause so much like liver or kidney probs but it is better then having your son with brain probs
if not happy get 2 or 3 opinions talk with your gp but don't let it just stay like that check the net
my little 1 might have m.e.r.f or s.m.s.f darvets thy are both not common she has myclonic and absence seizures
she is on her 2 different mend
she is 1 and half years old
