Everywhere we move, his tantrums have gotten Child Protective Services called, and people don't like us. Now, I decided to move into a nicer neighborhood and it's worst. They are calling police, landlord, gossiping amongst each other, and it seems as though they are trying to build a case to get us out of here. CPS is here every week, seriously, and now police are getting called. I don't know where I can move where this won't happen. Obviously not in a nicer neighborhood. But where would be an autism friendly community? The Doctor has not done enough testing and has called my son PDD-NOS which isn't going to save us in a discrimination case. PDD-NOS is an umbrella term for autistic symptoms, but not all the way autistic. Anyone have any ideas? My marriage is suffering from stress, and so is my parenting. I need to be more worried about my son and soothing him, then losing my home. The neighbors are going to be sure though that every day that is all we can think about is how to get out of here. HELP sorry so long, I wanted to thoroughly explain though. My neighborhood HATES my autistic son, and is doing everything to get us out, what do I do? Where can I move?
Firstly I totally admire your strength as a mother who truly loves her child who would go to the ends of the earth for her son to have a happy and loving life in peace.
It's a shame you live in the USA being their are so many free help services in my country Australia. You could get in contact with, so you wouldn't have any of these problems.
I find it shameful how narrow minded persons in your neighbourhood are towards you and your child, being he lives with a non visual disability.
Also how the CPS hasn't offered to help you, or directed you to a local counselling support group or network for parents with children who shares your sons disability.
I just did a net search for a American national free call number which may help you or direct you to someone closer to where you live.
Believe me it's always good to talk to a third ear for advice once in a while, rather than trying to do it all on your own. I can see by your question you truly really need someone to talk too.

Go to a different doctor. Obviously something is wrong and your son needs to get the proper help. If he is school aged, have the school test him. At the very least I know there are medications that can help control his outbursts. My neighborhood HATES my autistic son, and is doing everything to get us out, what do I do? Where can I move?
Well it's gonna cause hype where ever you move. So you just have to deal with it. The grass is not always greener...
someone early said if your son is school age have the school test him. My advice would be to have him looked at buy another doctor or you look into haveing him tested by someone else. Don't rely on the school. I have dyslexia, and my parents went off on there own and got me tested. Well the school still needed to do there tests and they said i wasn't dyslexic. Which is bull becuase i was tested by the dyslexia institution. anyways My point is school, school are the best when it comes to getting kids tested. And to move someplace. Maybe a small town in the country or a rural area where they're isn't as much people.
