My son is just 2 yrs old this month and has an Autism spectrum disorder called PDD-NOS. he does have a few ticks.. but i have always wondered if his non blinking had anything to do with it. since his birth he barely blinks, like barely ever.. does anyone know if they are related because all the specialist have never mentioned it to me. thanksWhy my son never blinks?
the problem with ASDs is that they are different one to the next. my oldest was like that, however - she'd zero in on something and just staaaaaaaaaaaaare at it. i don't know if it was connected but she also has constricted tear ducts which leaves her with dry eyes. from birth to 14yrs old, the number of tears she cried can be counted on both hands with enough fingers leftover to hold a cigarette. what tears she had were thick, sticky, and even gelatinous. when my second daughter was born and cried actual tears, i pretty much freaked thinking "what's wrong with her eyes!?", lol. sad.
anyway, have your son's eyes checked just in case - vision problems could also suppress the blink reflex. Why my son never blinks?
