I have a 22 month old son that has been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum (PDD-NOS).We have therapy for him 3 times per week and I work with him myself many times per day on signing, playing, everything. But I also have a normally developing 3 year old and want to show her she is just as important, so I cant devote the entire day to him exclusively. He is showing improvements. I feel like he is trying so hard but I never am doing enough. I have tried to get him into special programs but they are too expensive. Whatever his outcome is, he will still mean everything to me. But I want to know I am doing everything I can within my financial means to help him reach his potential. Has anyone had a therapy that they did at home that made a huge difference? Anyone else felt such inadequacy? Any comments/ suggestions would be great.Any one else with toddler on the autism spectrum? Suggestions?
Look into The Center for Autism and Related Disorders, Inc. (C.A.R.D.)
Offices located in Arizona, Virginia, Illinois, New York, Texas, and several in California including the headquarters. http://www.centerforautism.com/
If you are in FL or closer to FL there is Florida's Center for Autism and Related Disabilities - CARD. The 2 are not affiliated with each other. I cannot speak for the 1st one listed, I live in FL, and the one here provides great services at no charge within the home and outside of the home. They have tons of free classes that include a variety of topics including teaching the parent ABA techniques to use at home. http://www.ucf-card.org/florida.php
You can contact your local school board about early intervention services, they can let you know about local resources.
A local Autism Society Chapter can also provide great info about local resources. You can go to thier main website and search for a chapter near you. www.autism-society.org
This website has some great activities you can use at home to help with a variety of stuff relating to autism, you're 3 yr old will love them too. They have play activities, songs, stories and more.

I've got two sons on the autistic spectrum ages 8 and 3 and another son who is 2. Both of mine also are dx with PDD.NOS.
Ask if he can go to group at Easter Seals. Try to get more services. Try to get speech 2-3 x week, try getting OT, ask about ECE.
Look at your local autism chapter site: Many times there are resources there that are affordable.Any one else with toddler on the autism spectrum? Suggestions?
i can't even begin to imagine the struggle you are going through. the only thing i can suggest is searching for autism websites and foundations, maybe they have funds available to people in need? and maybe you can involve you three year old in teaching....it would help her bond with your son. my kids are 3, 2 and 6 months we are teaching our children sign to help with their communication skills and they love being able to show people what they know. having your daughter help may also help her.
best of luck to you
