Confused with 2 yo son. pdd, aspergers? or just delay?

hello im first time mom of a two year old boy, smart happy calm little boy, no tantrums no stimming. if there is no stimming right now could it come or would weve already seen some? do stims come later? hes doing great improving every minute. would like to see more playing with kids, he does not stand out. he is speech delayed, labels alot. he now at age 2 is starting to take us by the hand and walking us to what he wants, hes now asking "i want" so its definitely all coming........hes attending private and early intervention programs hes doing great in. taken him to a neurologist says its just a delay, took him to a child physcologist hes the only one whos said pdd-nos. very confused. all i know hes such a calm, smart, happy baby. and we have him in great programs, just very confused........Confused with 2 yo son. pdd, aspergers? or just delay?
Have you had his hearing checked?

Don't worry about him playing with other children, this often does not happen until they start school especially with 'only children" who are used to adult company.

When he points to an object say " You want the ball, this is the ball, here, you can have the ball". He will gradually repeat the words.

My daughter did not speak until she was 3 and now she has a vast vocabulary and people comment on how many clever words she knows.

Try not to label him, every child is different, accept him for who he is and stop worrying.Confused with 2 yo son. pdd, aspergers? or just delay?

Individuals diagnosed with PDD-NOS might have difficulties socializing, repetitive behaviors, and be oversensitive to certain stimuli. In their interaction with others they might struggle to maintain eye contact, appear unemotional, or appear to be unable to speak. They may also have difficulty transitioning from one activity to another. (my nephew has all that except he speaks at a age 2.5)
