My son was diagnosed with ASD?

my 2 1/2 year old son was diagnosed with ASD(PDD-NOS) by one neurologist and autism NOS(primary) by other neurologist he is in EI receiving SP,OT.special instruction i wanted i to if i could apply for ssi benefits for him.My son was diagnosed with ASD?
Yes, you can apply for SSI for him but 1) it's really slow so make sure everything on the paperwork is done right because if the government sends it back, it's even slower and 2) there are income guidelines. When I was married, we didn't qualify on an income of $50k with 6 people. Now single, we qualify but don't get the full amount because I make all of $800 a month. Definitely, however, try to get EVERYTHING you possibly can because the more you can do for your son now, the less he may need in the future. Apply for Department of Developmental Disabilities (or whatever it's called in whatever state you're in) as they sometimes have funding. Look for grants and waivers; also if you don't already have it, apply for state-funded medical insurance as a disabled child - they'll pick up co-pays and lots of other stuff.My son was diagnosed with ASD?
