Social Security -Autism Child?

My 3 year old was recently dg with a form of autism PDD-NOS . Is he eligible for social security. What are the criteria to be eligible? The treatment is very expensive and is not covered by the insurance. I would certainly use some extra money from SS. Our income is moderate to low .Social Security -Autism Child?
Autism will not make the child automatically eligible for SS. My relative's GF has 3 children with autism, but none are eligible. My former coworker's child was profoundly autistic (unable to communicate) and was eligible.

Kids who don't qualify sometimes qualify once they are adults for SSDI.Social Security -Autism Child?
you need to get a doctors dianosis, but i would bet you would qualify for ssi, there are all sorts of programs to help out...check with your home school....Social Security -Autism Child?
i'm not sure about ssi, but if he doesnt qualify, you could try to get mediacaid for him, if u say ur income is low-moderate, u may qualify. it also depends on how many kids u have, u can make more $ an still qaulify if u have a larger family. worth looking into. check all ur options
yes he is all you have to do is go to the ssi office and apply. have all his medical records with you and a note from his doctor about his autism it takes time to get approved usely the first time appling you get denied after that get a lawyer and apply again then you will get approved
