I have been wondering recently if Asperger's Syndrome and PDD-NOS can be associated with criminal behavior. Recently, I have been beginning to think so because a friend of mine says he is going to kill someone if he can't get into the military. He has also assaulted a number of people who made him so mad he couldn't take it any more. I have been wondering if people with AS can be more likely to go to prison. I think it can be associated with crime because people with AS seem to have almost no impulse and have a hard time handling rejection. Most of the time, they seem to be to afraid to fight but if they get pushed passed the limit, they will lose their temper. Again, does anyone think Aspergers Syndrome can be associated with crime and violent behavior???Can Aspergers Syndrome be associated with crime??????????

"RESEARCH has revealed that there is no direct link between Asperger's syndrome and criminal behaviour.
"A study in Wales found no evidence for recent reports which have suggested the syndrome, a form of autism, is a cause for anti-social and threatening behaviour."Can Aspergers Syndrome be associated with crime??????????
We are responsible for our own behaviorCan Aspergers Syndrome be associated with crime??????????
I agree that Asperger's is NOT typically associated with crime! This is not to say that no one with Asperger's is ever violent or commits a crime, because this does happen. I just don't think it's any more likely than the general population. Unfortunately, the media does often unfairly portray Asperger's this way.
I hope that your friend does get some help from a professional.

He could have co-morbid conditions which may be associated with his violent behavior. He should be urged to seek help. Honestly, I hope he isn't allowed in the military.
